OUTFIT DETAILS: Top: SPLASH - CENTERPOINT Culottes: SPLASH - CENTERPOINT Heels: STEVE MADDEN Watch: MICHAEL KORS Bells, trumpets, frills, ruffles, knots, shoulder cut-outs... The focus has shifted onto statement sleeves right now. I know, I was surprised too.
The last time ruffled bell sleeves were this big (pun intended) was probably in the 70s, exuding super bohemian vibes. Except back then they were done with prints, which was a bit too much for me. ( Click here to see an extreme example of what I'm talking about.) But they've come back bigger & better! I like options the options now in one solid color constructed with a more structured fabric such as a starched cotton. ( For example this top from ZARA or this knotted option ) In fact, this trend might just be seeping into the hemlines on trousers! ( As seen on Man Repeller's Leandra Medine here. ) I stumbled upon the top I'm wearing 2 months ago in Splash at Centerpoint after shopping for some makeup essentials in the Lifestyle section nearby. I usually avoid buying tops from Centerpoint unless they are 100% cotton, as the fabric gets weird on you after a few washes. But I just couldn't resist snagging this top! I hadn't seen a top with statement sleeves anywhere else when I saw this & love that it has a cinched waist so you don't look like you're wearing a big sack with armholes. Proportions are very important when it comes to dressing right and looking polished!! Another thing I liked about this top was the super stretchy neckline. It's elasticated and it looks like a normal top unless you stretch it down and then you have an off-the-shoulder top! You know I love a piece that can be worn many different ways. I just hope the fabric lasts a while. I think it should be fine if I wash it on a delicate cycle & steam it. (Caring for your clothes is a must girlies! Prevent wastage.) I also found these cotton black culottes (& on sale for just 20sr!!). Also surprised how good they turned out to be when I tried them on. So this outfit just fell together.. it could be great as a weekend brunch outfit. Word of caution though: be careful not to go knocking things over tables with your sleeves, or worse, dipping them in food. I'm a klutz so I don't know about you but that's an important reminder for me! STYLING IDEAS: Pair it with bejeweled heels & clutch and glitzy chandelier earrings for a fancier evening look. I'd wear it with some white sneakers or strappy flats too for a more casual daytime outfit. P.S. Writing this, I just had an idea! Would you girls like me to do a one outfit, different ways feature? My events page has lacked in action because I got too busy with university exams & didn't want to rush my event stories & half-ass it (& then I resorted to detailed insta posts.). But I'm done with uni & back!! I attended an event at the Chloé store in Al-Khayyat Center earlier this year. The event started at 8pm. I arrived at 8.15pm & the place was already popping! Jeddah's saudi-timing (late) doesn't apply when it comes to these fabulous events!
The brand Chloé was founded by Gaby Agnion in Paris, circa 1952. In an industry that at the time was dictated by haute couture as luxury fashion, Chloé entered offering style at a convenience in the form of Pretwear. Aginon once wrote: "One morning, I woke up thinking I will make a little collection of charming dresses in very pretty colors that women will fancy." And so came Chloé. Chloé exudes pretty, subtle femininity, with a hint of boho-chic 70s vibes. That's how it's easy to spot a Chloé dress. Its advertisements portray the brand as a dream! Claire Waight-Keller is currently the creative director. She previously worked alongside the likes of Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford at Gucci, Francisco Costa and more! You must have noticed the Drew bag by Chloé on fashionable shoulders all across social media at some point. Due to it's availability in countless beautiful colors & the skinny chain link design that displays simplicity and delicacy, it's unmissable! It's one bag that will stay in your style rotation for years to come. Worn cross body, it's a great option for a casual day around town, but chic enough to be slung over one shoulder for a fancy evening out too. Head over to the store In Al-Khayyat Center on Tahlia street, Jeddah & grab yourself a Drew too. Or check out everything they have to offer on www.chloe.com/sa Scroll down to check out some of my favorites from the store. A glimpse of the vibes at the event!
